Projects 65,000km

The 65,000km project reveals the authenticity and rich diversity of humanity, shaped by geography rather than national borders.

Contemporary travel portraiture often exquisitely showcases local people, presenting them as ephemeral models. But what about the individuals one would encounter in everyday life?

In each of the 23 countries during my year-long journey from London to Sydney, one man and one woman were approached somewhat organically. This ranged from complete strangers on a local bus to friends of shop workers. A naturally-lit candid portrait was taken, connecting diverse individuals like beads on a sting extending across the globe.
